Welcome to Riley's "Lyme Be Gone" Blog

Why a blog?

Many of you have asked for more details regarding Riley’s diagnosis of Lyme disease and the troubles we have encountered accessing appropriate treatment for him. This blog is an attempt to fill in some of these details.
We will also use the blog as a way to keep in touch and communicate updates as Riley progresses with treatment.

Please go to the above link “Riley’s Journey with Lyme Disease” to read the story of Riley's deteriorating health this past year.

Many people have been perplexed as to why Lyme Disease is so controversial and why diagnosis and effective treatment in Canada is unavailable.
To better understand the controversy, we have done lots of reading, consulting and questioning to figure out what is going on (or should we say not going on) with the treatment of this disease in Canada.
If you link to “Lyme 101” you can read a summary of what we have learned about Lyme disease, other infections carried by ticks, and diagnosis and treatment issues.

Thanks to all of you who have been so supportive and caring during these past months. We feel incredibly blessed and grateful for your support.
Riley has felt very cared for and knows that he is surrounded by people who are “cheering him on”.  He continues to astound us with his positive attitude, deep faith and gentle but determined spirit.

“You never know how strong you are, until being strong is the only choice you have.”

  6. Rochester here. Prayers are being sent your way from several sources--I have told several of my friends who are praying. Riley, you come from a very strong line of ancestors. Great-great Grandpa Gus who cleared the land to farm, Great-Grandpa Wilton and Grandma Irene likewise pioneers, Grandpa Dennis and Grandma Jacquie full of life and love, and your parents. And I don't even know about the Moon side of your heritage.

    Our love to you.

  8. Thank you for being our first link to finding out about Lyme disease - a friend emailed your link to us and through that we found Dr. Murakami's site and the list of symptoms that led us to pursue a diagnosis for our daughter (now 19). She is about where Riley is now symptom-wise after 8 months of treatment but would have been much worse had we not gotten help when we did. I have followed Riley's blog
and often prayed for him. What a horrible disease this is that robs our young people and yet what incredible spirit they display in the midst of it. Blessings, Rhonda Adrian
